Surgery and Recovery

I had my foraminotomy done on Tuesday, December 21st. Basically, they removed some bone from my vertebrae to increase the size of the hole that the nerve root exits. The last thing I remember before the surgery was looking up at the mask the anesthesiologist was making me breath from.

I woke up in a hospital room with oxygen tubing in my nose, a brace around my neck, and pneumatic booties on my feet.

The first thing I noticed, other than my new accessories, was the pain. Thankfully, I had control of one of those handy-dandy morphine pumps.

I stayed in the hospital for two nights. Now, I am home....heavily medicated and hoping for a quick recovery. I most definitely feel the pain from the surgery but can not tell if there is any pain from the area that was giving me so much trouble pre-surgery. Hopefully, that pain has been eliminated!

This is the last picture I had taken while in the hospital, after I "spruced up" a bit. A little mascara goes a long way.

Now if you will please excuse me, I have to go throw up. Nausea is a side effect of the medication. Blah!

I hope that your recovery is going well and that at least you aren't nauseous anymore!
