What happened?
Yesterday morning, I woke up and heard Dale scolding Charlie in the other room. The only time Dale scolds Charlie is when Charlie pees on the carpet or when he barks at our other dog Cooper. I did not hear any barking, so I figured that Charlie had peed on the carpet...again. He did it right in front of Dale, which is unusual. The only time he has ever peed (in the house) in front of me is when he was trying to prevent me from leaving the house. He ran in front of me, standing in between myself and the door, and peed. Normally, he waits until we are gone to act like the carpet is his personal toilet.
We have had our carpet cleaned multiple times but the urine is never really gone, is it? The stains come back and we know it is in the pad underneath the carpet. Gross.
Anyway, I got up about 20 minutes after I heard Dale scolding Charlie and I walked into the living room. This is what I saw:
What the what?
Dale and I have discussed removing the carpet and going with either stained concrete or hardwood. However, I had no idea he was going to start the project on this particular morning so I was somewhat surprised.
Here is what the floor looks like at this moment:
Raw. Our armoire has been moved to another room. It feels strange in here.
I am a fan of hardwood but Dale is interested in the stained concrete look. I heard bamboo floors are pet friendly (unlike hardwood). Maybe we will look into that?
Dale told me he wants to remove the carpet in all of the rooms. Looks like I'll be living in a construction site for a while.
In Other News:
I purchased a few items while out and about on South Congress. Here is one of my favorite purchases- Day of the Dead Dog Skeletons!
One for Charlie and one for Cooper. I love them.
Here is skeleton Charlie and Skeleton Cooper standing on a photograph of myself dressed as La Catrina on Halloween a few years ago:
I love Día de los Muertos.

When Larry's phone went off yesterday morning, I was like, "Who was that?" He said, "Dale just ripped out the carpet." Ha! I think y'all could compromise and do stained concrete until you find the wood you really want! I agree - I love the look of bamboo floors.
I was surprised to find out that stained concrete (done by the pros) can be just as expensive as wood floors. If that is the way we go, that is probably how the floors will stay. I don't think I would want to pay for the flooring twice.
