All Growed Up

Technically, we reach adulthood at the age of eighteen. Even though I was out of the house and on my own by nineteen, I don't think I felt like an adult during that time of my life. In fact, I am just now starting to feel like a grown up.
There are certain actions and accomplishments that have helped me realize that I have grown into a more mature me. My most obvious adult-like accomplishments would be things like home ownership, having a little money put away for retirement, and voting.

Having more and more hangover free weekends, a complete set of matching bedding (with decorative pillows and everything), and becoming a godmother (twice) are some examples of the not-so-obvious reasons that make me feel like an adult.

The most recent not-so-obvious thing that I have done which made me feel like a grown-up was purchasing pajamas and a matching robe.

Seriously.

I even have matching slippers!!!

This morning, I was in the kitchen making coffee. Of course, I had on the ensemble you see pictured above. I caught a glimpse of myself in the hazy reflection of a window and I thought, "wow, look at you all growed-up."

A few days ago, I might have been making coffee in one of Dale's long sleeved t-shirts, a pair of socks, and my heavy gray bathrobe. Not anymore, sister. My sleepwear is coordinated.

Plus, it's so comfortable. Nice and soft.

Cooper enjoys the robe.

I recommend that you treat yourself to a new set of jammies...uh, erm, I mean pajamas. Go ahead and get a nice robe and some slippers to go with them. Go on...you deserve it.

So cute and classy! I'm pretty sure I have those exact same pants, but I didn't get the shirt or slippers. Yay for being all growed up!

Thanks, Bee. When I bought them I thought, "I can finally open my door in my PJs without being embarrassed."
I don't know why that thought popped into my head. It's not like we get a lot of unannounced visitors at night.

no offense, but black's pretty easy to match. i mean, if they were all the same shade of brown, i might be more impressed. i still think you're mature. but black is black. there's no different shades of black. the expression of "black and white" explicitly suggests that black and white are colors which cannot be confused.

you rock, though. here's to adulthood and going grey.

I knew I was grown up when my knees hurt too bad to walk up the stairs.
