shades of grey

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I have an office. It’s totally the “newbie” office (because it is smaller than most other offices) but it’s mine and I like it.

However, it needs some help in the décor department. You see, the color palate is done in shades of grey. The carpet, furniture, and walls included. The walls are the lightest of the grey combination, but they are icky. I need to brighten it up. I have two pictures up so far, but need more. Josh Johnson is supposed to frame my degree and once he does, it will join it’s buddy up on my wall….so that will take up some space. Mostly, I want color. I am thinking jewel tones.

I also need:

-A cool chair for visitors to sit in

-Plants that can survive without sunlight

-Fabric to cover up the window on my door

-cool knickknacks for my windowsill.

I can’t wait.

Oh, here is the Operation Skinny Witch update. I have lost 3 pounds and some change this week!!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

If you are counting, that is a total loss of 6lbs. I have lost all of the weight I gained over the summer! Still, I have 10 more to go…I think. I will know where I want to stop when I get there.

Unless I develop anorexia.

Ew. Just kidding.

I did not lose 3 pounds

An update on “Operation Skinny Witch”:

My goal was to lose 3 lbs this week. Goal not met. Still, I lost 2lbs and that is fine by me. It’s a good thing I have a Halloween deadline because this shit is taking FOREVER!

I guess I need to start exercising or something.

Goal for next week: 2 lbs. Word.

In other news:

Here is the shoe that broke thus causing me to fall on my ass while dancing at the recent wedding

My shoe is the only one with my toes showing. The tip of the heal came off! I love those shoes! Damn.

And here I am dancing with Colin, moments before the fall

Yeah, my bra is showing in the back. Are you surprised?

I wish I had a pic of me as I fell or right after I fell.

Wait….

Maybe I don’t.

No, I do.

Work is going great. I am excited for the kids to come back. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and start doing some therapy! Holla!

The Outsider

Oh man. Don’t you just love it when you are taking posed photos and something is happening in the background that is not posed at all and it just kinda takes over the picture?

Or maybe the picture is posed, but the angle of which it was taken at makes what was supposed to be a cute picture something else?

Remember the “little head” Rachel picture? That is a perfect example.

Now, I have another for you. I hope you are ready for this one.

This picture was taken at Amanda and Wyatt’s wedding. What, you think we just wear those clothes all the time?

The pic was supposed to be one of Colin and Laurie. I somehow managed to be captured in the frame, unbeknownst to any of us in the photo.

have a look.

As I was telling Laurie, this pic captured something strange. It looks like they are having a great time, looking happy with smiles on their faces, while I am in the background looking like a cast member from “The Ring”.

Or, it looks like they are the popular kids at the senior prom and I am that weird girl trying to stand close to them so that I feel like I belong right before they dump a bucked of pig’s blood on my head thus sending me into a psychotic rage which opens up my powers of telekinesis.

Look at my up close

Still creepy. That does not even look like me!

Kinda looks like this

A night to remember

Yesterday, a group of us attended Wyatt and Amanda’s very stylish wedding. The event was held at the shoreline grill, here in Austin.

Colin and Laurie showed up looking like a million bucks.

Larry and Rachel were dressed to impress.

There, that’s better. Dale and I clean up well.

As we waited for the bride and groom to appear we amused ourselves by taking plenty of photos.

Thank the lord for digital cameras.

Then the groom made his entrance, looking sharp! He is walking to the classic sounds of Mr. Myles Davis.

Here comes the bride!

She entered during the Myles tune as well. It was so smooth! She looked gorgeous! Very elegant, and unique.

During the reception, my camera ran out of battery power. In short, I managed to break my shoe on the dance floor thus causing me to fall. I also ate delicious Hors d’œuvres, drank beer and wine, and dined on some of the best salmon I have ever had. The play list that the couple painstakingly selected was divine! We all had such a good time making this one of the best weddings I have ever been to. Thank you, Amanda and Wyatt. I hope you have a fabulous honeymoon!

Weigh day

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Ok, so this past Friday I stepped on the scale. I could not wait for my weigh in day (which is today). At that point, I had lost 2 lbs. Woo- 2 lbs in 3 days! DAMN, SAM!

Then I went out with the boys on Friday and Sat. I stayed away from beer, but still…the calories were adding up.

On Sunday I went to a lake party. Oops, I could not resist trying a damn inside out carrot cake cookie. I regained a little respect for myself when I resisted the brownies, but not much.

Any-hoo-da-li-doo-da-li, I weighed myself today and I have only lost a pound and some change. Still, a loss is a loss is a loss. I just need to be more careful this week. So far, I have been doing fine.

My goal for this week is to loose 3 lbs.

Does this mean I am not going to have a drink at Amanda’s wedding this Sat? Uh, hell no. I will enjoy some beverages. I just have to be good every day up until then and then after that.

Cheers!

Doin' work, son!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I started my new job today….sort of. Really it was just orientation, which meant I had to sit through lectures and presentations all morning. Still, it was nice to be back in the groove of having a schedule.

Bonus #1- my health insurance gives me 100% coverage. The state pays 100% of my health insurance premiums. Sweet.

Bonus #2- I get full pay for the entire month of August when, really, I will only have “worked” a few weeks. Nice.

Bonus # 3- They provided breakfast, which was awesome since I forgot mine at the house. I was happy to see that they had fat free yogurt and fruit along with the muffins and donuts. I opted for the Yogurt and fruit. Operation skinny witch is still going on, after all.

The only drawback is that I am soooooo tired. I did not get a lot of sleep last night. I guess my nerves bought a ticket on the ol’ insomnia train. I have a feeling that I will not have any problem getting sleep tonight.

In other news:

I actually enjoyed the Ween concert we went to on Thursday. I am not a huge fan of their music, but they put on a great show. They are a great live band. Dale, Lee and Josh absolutely loved it. They were as close to the stage as possible. I opted to hang in the back as I am not a fan of hippy stink. My nose thanked me later.

The next concert I attend will be the mutha truckin’ WHITE STRIPES!!! OH MY GOSH! I am so excited about this one! I can’t even write about it….

Rent “rock school” if you have not already. It’s a documentary, not to be confused with the Jack Black movie “school of rock”. Go get it…now. You will love it. (well, you will if you are a music lover).

That is all for now. I hope you have a good week. Have a glass of wine…you deserve it.

To the young mother at the pool

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I was enjoying a good book while relaxing poolside, yesterday, when you entered the environment with kiddos in tow. At first, I thought you were going to set up camp next to me and I cringed at the thought. It’s not that I don’t enjoy kids…it’s simply that I wanted to spend a few quiet hours of reading while working on my tan. Kids are inherently loud, especially when in groups, that’s a fact. But no, you walked right by me and found a little corner for you crew. Thank you.

I also want to thank you for being an attentive mother. Not only did you have your two children to watch, but you allowed them each to bring a friend along with them. Not one of those whippersnappers could have been over the age of 9. Two girls and two boys. Before they got in the water, you slathered every one of them with waterproof SPF lotion. I could smell it from my side of the pool. I like the smell of sunscreen, so it’s was pleasant. You then went over the rules with the children. I could not hear what you are saying, since you did not bark orders at them (bless you), but having worked with children I know the serious face that goes along with rule giving and you had it!

At some point, I got into the water. I was on my little floatie thing and kept to one tiny corner of the pool. My appreciation and gratitude for you grew ten fold whenever your kids would try to swim/splash around my area and you would tell them to get back to “their side”. GOD BLESS YOU!!! You understood that I did not want my book to be splashed or a kick to the head. Most of the time, at the apt pool, parents could care less where and what their child is doing as long as they are not drowning. I have had books drenched, been sprayed directly in the eye with a super soaker, had pool water dumped in my drink, had kids swim directly into me, and have even had them ask for my floatie. This did not happen yesterday. Oh no. You made sure they did not bother me, and I appreciate it. When one of the kids was splashing in my area and you told them to move to their side, he said “but why”? You replied “because this is not your pool and we must share”. You deserve an award!!!

So thank you, young mother, for allowing me to have a nice pool day. The pool days have been limited this summer, due to the rain, and I relish the time that I have when I am there.

In closing, I want to say that the pool “drunkards” are often worse than the kids. I may get into that in another post. But this one is all about you. And by the way, you looked fabulous in your maroon bikini! Good for you!

Thanks again,

Sarah

Operation "Skinny Witch"

For Halloween this year, I want to be skinny

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Actually, I want to be thin. “Skinny” just has a better ring to it, don’t you think?

Today, I went shopping for work clothing. Either all the manufacturers have changed their sizes (yeah right), or I have gained weight. I could still button the pants, but it was not a pretty sight. I had to go up a size. I am just not fond of the “muffin top” look.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I sure had fun putting on that extra weight, though.

There was some of this

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Some of that

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

A lotta this

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And a bunch of that

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So, here is my proposal. I am going to start Operation "Skinny Witch” tomorrow. I will weigh myself in and then post my weight loss weekly. If any of you want to join in, just weigh yourself tomorrow and then feel free to post your progress in my comments section when I post weekly results. It will be a way to be accountable. It will also be a group effort, which I think is fun. I am not going to post my weight, just the loss. Ya’ll don’t need to know that information.

We will have 85 days until Halloween. Who is in?

Myspace fun

So the other day I was clicking around my space looking at various stranger’s pages. Have you ever done that thing where you go to one of your friend’s pages and then click on one of their friend’s pictures? Yeah, that’s how I fill my free time. All my clicking around paid off when I found this little gem.

Here is what this broad says about herself in her “about me” section.

I am a 26 year old female that has 5 kids under the age of 7. I have a very dear friend that helps me out with everything. He helps me with tests, my life, and my web pages, his name is Eli. i love him to death. And if anyone fucks him over i will hurt them real real bad.”

Here she is (I have blacked out her eyes to hide her true identity…)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Are you kidding me? She is doing a “sexy” pose in front of a crib? I wonder which of her 5 kids sleeps in that.

I wonder if one of her 5 kids took this photo:

Check out the background in that photo.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Let’s make a rule, shall we? If you are going to post a photo of yourself on the internet, maybe you should clean up you surroundings so that you don’t look like another piece of trash that is littering your floor. Just a thought, really.

Oh my gosh, did I just say that? I am going to hell.

Or, you can just learn how to crop a photo.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

That’s better…..

Kind of.
